January news update from Number One King Street Potton
Updated: May 21, 2020
Hello and a belated Happy New Year,
Thank you all for helping make the start of the Number One King Street journey such a success. I don't think I have ever been so stressed in those first few weeks when service wasn't what it should be but we've broken the back of the training and I'm really pleased with how everyone has progressed.
Now that I’ve rested, my brain is whizzing again and there are lots of new ideas and plans. Firstly I'm really pleased to see a light at the end of the tunnel of 90 hour weeks! It gives me immense pleasure to announce that Heather will be helping me manage Number One King Street. She is a total natural and I feel very blessed to have her.
After listening to feedback, we will now be opening on Mondays starting on 3rd February. So those of you who have asked better turn up!
We re-start our Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights on Thursday 6th February. I have to say that the food Jamie, our head chef, is producing is beyond my expectations and I thank him and his lovely team sincerely. His clever use of flavours, with ingredients I never even heard of, shows throughout our menus. With greater freedom in the evenings his skill and knowledge really shines through so please come in.
Tying in with our Monday opening we will have a "talking table" from 10am -midday each Monday where anyone can come along and they'll be someone here to chat to. We read so much about mental health, loneliness and with all the new people to Potton I hope this will become a real community focal point. Be you new to Potton, a little lonely, struggling or just wanting to get out please come in.
On Monday 3rd February we will also be launching our take-away menu of sandwiches, ciabattas, salads and healthy juices.
I think I'm safe is saying that we are all gutted that the bakery has closed and along with everyone else really hope that it will re-open one day. In the meantime, we are hoping to team up a local bakery and be able to offer fresh bread each morning for you to come in and buy. The moment someone takes on the bakery we'll stop but I hope this will fill the current gap in Potton. Once we have a date for this I will let everyone know.
Something we haven't yet promoted is the private hire side of things. You never quite know how a place will feel when you are choosing colours and furnishings but I think I can safely say from people's feedback that Number One King Street feels lovely. We have had a few parties now and the place just comes alive. We can accommodate up to 120 people so when friends are talking about venues please mention us. Be it a christening, wedding or birthday we have the space and chef to look after you.
There's more in the pipeline but let’s get this sorted...
Have a wonderful 2020....see you soon
